I'm taking Albie to see the vet at 2:30 today.
I got the piggys in from the run late last night I noticed Albie had a slight limp. Because it was 10 p.m I thought I would wait until morning to see how he was. I did give him .05 of infant calpol last night. I haven't given him anything this morning because he's going to the vet today. Well he seems to be worse today. He is now kind of bunny hopping. Hes spendimg most of the time in a hidey. I don't know how he's done it. In his run these not ramp, he's not been dropped. Its a very large run just with their hideys in it.
I hate seeing him like this I've been crying most of the morning. I think his 2 little girls are worried too as they are both either laying with him or sat just outside he's hidey. The girls are in normally pinching his food from him or running around like nutters I hope he hasn't broken anything. Oh its going to be along wait until 2:30

Hi, By the sounds of things your have done the right things so it's just a case for waiting to see the vet now. I hope albie is fine and it's just a sprain from him landing funny when popcorning may be. Keep us posted.
Kell.

Good luck at the vets, it does sound like an injury, however bunny hopping can also be caused by a bladder stone or vitamin deficiency. I would say an xray is needed to officially diagnose.

I think its he's leg. As when he eats he holds his foot up. Can they get vitamin deficiencies if they have the right amount of veg, hay and nuggets each day ?

Back from vets. Vet gave him a good prod and poke and an anti inflammatory/pain killer injection. She said everything feels fine. He's got to have bed rest. I have put a divider in his c&c to make it smaller.
I forgot to ask for pain relief meds for tomorrow. So I phoned vets up and their going to have some ready for tomorrow. Just got to wait and see how he is over the next couple of days.

I hope he feels better soon. Hopefully he's just gone a bit mad on the popcorning and pulled something. Fingers crossed for him...keep us posted! x

Poor Albie! I hope Rose and Amber are looking after him and he feels better soon! Pixel, Widget and Thor send love and healing wheeks xx

Hope Albie is feeling better and enjoying his pampering. Out of interest how old and big is he? Frank our swiss guinea pig is 3 1/2 and huge, at his heaviest (he's been on a diet) he was 2 kg he now weighs 1.8. Vet says hes the biggest not fattest guinea pig they've seen. Anyway to get to the point he has a touch of arthritis which occasionally makes him uncomfortable, when it flares up he has metacam and it calms down again.

Thanks Nash. He's only 1yr and weighs 965. I'm off to get him so more pain meds from vet this morning.

Poor baby hope he feels better soon.

How's he doing @maxdawn? x
He only comes out of his hidey to eat & drink. He still can't put any weight on his foot. If he's still the same on Friday I'm taking him back. Vet gave me meds for pain, but he's only to have it once a day.

Awww poor little dude, lots of healing vibes to him

Please ask the vet about splitting the dose of pain relief as they have a very fast metabolism.

He's putting a bit of weight on it and he's been moving around more today. Hes still limping though.I spoke to vet and she said to bring him back Monday if I don't see more of an improvement in him.
Roses hormones have kick in now. She been wiggling her butt the last 2 days. Its so fun

Bless him. It sounds like the metacam is helping x

That's so funny about Rose! My Widget has been rumbling this week too - it's funny cos she's usually so quiet!

Thor's doing really well thanks :) Running around like a loony and waggling his bum at the girls!
