I had the boys in the house today on my lap for a cuddle as i hadnt handled them for a few days as they are outside and the weather has been foul - so had them in together and louise settled within 15 mins and started chatting to me and trying to hide under my chin bless him! But Humphrey his brother was struggling to settle and kept still and chuntered at me a couple of times. I know he was scared but I want him to get used to being handled. Any advice?

Would a indoor cage help him settle better as well as sometimes when the weather is just wet i dont like the boys outside anyway.

Hi!

It usually takes more time to settle in new guinea pigs and getting them used to petting than most people think. It is a good sign that your boys trust you enough to show their displeasure, though!

Long term, an indoors cage allows much more interaction.

Well I didnt know it was a trust thing that him chuntering at me was good :))silly piggie. But il keep persisting, he has shown no agression, no biting at all. But want to gain their trust.

Shall definitely invest in an indoor cage so I can have them in occasionally.

I too got an indoor cage for my outside piggies to spend some time indoors socialising in bad weather and already after two days they've come on in leaps and bounds with their confidence. I'm currently sitting watching them both laying down, stretched out having a relaxing rest in the cage which I've never seen before. I can't believe I haven't tried it before. I've had them 6 weeks and am slowly taming them but this has really sped up the process. Go for it. You won't look back x good luck x

Thank you, ive only had my boys not quite 3 weeks yet. I'm hoping an indoor cage will get them more used to my voice and the familys so they are not so timid.

I wish all piggies were housed indoors. They are part of the family after all and you would not stick your uncle in the garden. You will be able to spend much more time with them and get to know all their little ways now they are indoors. You have to be very patient and handle them every single day and they will soon enjoy snuggle time. -c
