Well I think so!

Told them both to be good this morning when I left for work. I've just come home and taken them out of the cage to go into the run and Percy has a split ear 8...

I feel awful and don't really know what to do. They normally get on so well together. They are brothers and have always been together. I'd hate to have to separate them.

I would suggest closely monitoring their behaviour, it could potentially be a one off, I have had the same in the past and no trouble since. Altho last week winston was chasing and humping flinn as he is very hormonal and flinn jumped around as winston leapt up to hump and they clashed faces and both suffered a cut lip but I saw the whole thing and think it was accidental. As you weren't there its difficult to judge so you might want to monitor it and see if anything else happens.
This is my only experience of squabbles despite having had lots of boars over the years (I've been very lucky) but hopefully someone else may have some more advice :)

Are they otherwise fine? are they still young? could be hormones causing the squabbles. Also, how big is their cage/hutch? the more space the better with boars. You could also try (if you haven't already) making sure they have two of everything, some boars prefer their own bowl and water bottle, maybe even given them their own hay racks and defo their own hideys :)

I've kept an eye on them tonight, and they seem ok but Percy will move out of Herbert's way when he come near.

I've only had them since May, so they aren't really very old at all.

I've currently got a 5ft hutch which will be changed before xmas, as we are waiting for the garden to be first. I've taken out the tunnel and put a shoe box in with hay, so they've both got a place to go.

Will check them again in the morning, and see how things go. I think i'm also going to give the man they came from a call.

if they were babies in may then they've just hit the hormonal 'teenage' phase so this can happen on and off, I think if the squabbles are sporadic then it's hormones, you'll know if they really hate each other as they won't stop until blood is drawn. They may get stroppy and squabble on and off for the next few months. If they cause each serious injury (or better still, you spot the signs first but not always possible) then do seperate. Hopefully it's just hormones!

Have you seen a vet with him? That really is horrendous :( I would say he needs antibiotics for that. I've only had sows who have had minor squabbles & have had teeny nicks in their ears, that looks like his ear is now in two :...

Poor wee lamb, my two are 6 months and are going through a stage where they give each other attitude at times, but they have not actually hurt each other ( thank god) but it does worry me and i hope they continue to behave, so I do feel for you x

I would take him to the vets, I am far from an expert but that does look painful and you don't want an infection :(

Dawn x
