Bugs mum
Junior Guinea Pig
1 of my boys keeps shouting at others chasing them to nip behind neck or mount them any suggestions
Since yesterdayI was sold 3 boy together in a 4 by c and cage as I have no room for any bigger but was actually sold a small one that I would think was for a hamster with them they are 16 weeks ruffly
Already done 3 off everything today they seem to have calmed down a bit off grumbling around cage and humping of the 1 but nothing like 2 nights ago they still happy to eat the hay all together and all prefer to eat from the one bowl so fingers crossed will calm I do have a small cage I case I need to separate the 1 and will look into adding another c and c onto the 1 I gotI hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but a trio of young boars is statistically very unlikely to make it through to adulthood as a trio. Admittedly some members on the forum do have trios of boars, but it really depends on their ages, personalities and space.
A 4 x 2 c and c is really not large enough for 3 growing boars. At 16 weeks they are having a hormone spike and they are likely to be sorting out the hierarchy. They can stay together at the moment unless a full blown fight breaks out or blood is drawn but the reality is that you are likely to have to separate them at some point in the near future. My advice is that it would be best to start planning to have to separate them into a pair of boars and then to either neuter one to live with a sow or consider finding him another boar companion.
In the meantime to alleviate stress please make sure they have 3 of everything so there is nothing to fight over.
What about getting one nutered & after 6 weeks & getting a sow. I'm worried if they fall out it will be all 3 then you won't be able to put them together again. Also I don't want to burst your bubble. Because your excited with your piggies. But that cage is to small, boars need a lot of room. I'll tag someone to advise you on how big the cages need to be. There is one that is big enough, but only for 2. Is there somewhere large in your place to extend the cage.
