My one year old brothers Mars and Wispa had a full on fight yesterday afternoon. Poor Mars lost a bit of fur and has an lower eyelid injury which bled quite a bit 8... Vet says no injury to the eye itself thankfully.
It was really awful to see them fighting - they have had an escalation in rumbling and teeth chattering in the last few days.
I have had to erect a temporary barricade between them until I decide what cages to get as I dont think they will be going back together. Ironically Wispa (the instigator of trouble) is wheeking through the barricade to Mars who seems so much happier on his own already.
Looking at them together in my avatar you would think they were best buddies.
Boys ........:(

AWW that is a shame. BOYS rolleyes

I'm pleased the one of them is happier and I am sure side by side they will be okay.

Glad there was no permanent damage done.
xx

Trouble is I don't know how I will be able to keep them side by side due to space constraints. Thier temp barrier means they only have a small space each so can't be left for long, just till I work out a solution.
Mars is def more relaxed, he is eating his hay totally ignoring Wispas pleas through the wire :))

We have two boys, Bear & Inca.
Had to take Inca to the vet just over a week ago as the bottom part of his mouth was torn away & hanging there.
Vet thinks he caught it on the mesh trying to get to the grass outside of the run. He stitched him up a treat - better than the NHS :))
I'm not so sure as this morning it was the mesh as they started a really big fight & i noticed Bear had blood at the sides of his mouth. Not as bad as Inca was thankfully (£80 vet bill for operation 8... ) looks like i'll have to keep them apart, which is a shame as they have been together since babies.
Time to think how to house them both together whitout them been able to fight:(

I'm sad to hear this Amanda, bad boys rolleyes! Boys are always given us grief, but I am glad to see you it's been a while so welcome back :), wish it was better circumstances though.

I am sorry to hear that your boars have fallen out; it is not uncommon that the instigator has no concept of why his poor friend has been taken away!

Is it possible to keep your boys in cages on top of each other? You may have to install a shelf or suitable table for that.

Some people with space restraints have had success with adapting a deeper bookshelf, for instance.

I was thinking of maybe getting a two storey cage, blocking the ramp hole and having them like that. Only trouble is then that they won't be able to see each other which will be worse for Wispa, he looks so sad without his bro :(

Awww, I'm sorry. They look so cute in your avatar pic! I know some people have been able to reintroduce after the hormones have settled. Otherwise you could have them neutered and get them a wife each! I bet Wispa won't long for his brother if he has a wife :)) They are a good age for neutering!.

Aw I'm sorry your boys have fallen out. My 2 younger boars got in a bloody fight too, and had to be housed seperately, I feel for you, its so upsetting xx

I bet he would love a wifey pig, trouble is then my other boys would all be wanting one! I would end up with ten pigs and probably a divorce!
