I always give Ginny and Saffy some floor time whenever I'm at home. I let them loose in the hall and sit on the floor with them, blocking off the stairs. It's the only place in my house where they can't get lost under or behind furniture! My son sits out with me and offers them veggies but as he's 4 he gets bored quickly so heads off to watch TV :(|) The door between hall and lounge, has to be kept shut to stop piggies escaping and usually he knows this and keeps it closed. Today me and the girls spent ages in our hall as they seemed to be enjoying scurrying around and chirping to each other, my son opened the door and asked me what I was doing just as the cat decided to investigate. Just about to start panicking when I realised they were just sitting still and Cloudy was casually and calming walking over to investigate. He heard me say loudly and belaytedly don't let the cat in and decided to leg it back into the lounge. Later on he was asleep in the sun on top of their hutch! He has seen them when I have evening cuddles with them but am so pleased that he doesn't seem too interested in them! Just a bit curious like a typical cat :)) I will always keep an eye on him when my girls are loose but rather pleased with Cloudy's reaction, I do like my animals to live in harmony :(|)

Wow what confident little piggies you have! I am relieved it all went well with no chasing. :)

When my 3 are in the pen, the next door neighbour's 3 legged cat sits on the fence watching the piggies and chases other cats away. ;)

You and me both :(|) I think Cloudy is used to them as he'll sleep on the sofa next to me when I'm cuddling them, luckily his interest seems to be harmless! Not sure if the girls were being confident or frozen in fear! They may be used to seeing and hearing him as well and because he strolled in it didn't scare them. Was delighted with all 3 of them :))

How funny, being all territorial over your pigs! Cats do love to watch, hope that's all it does

Wow, that's a lot different than what happened with my cat! He decided to poke my piggy Nibbles with his paw. She promptly turned around and started biting him and chased him away! To this day he never goes anywhere near the piggies :))

I'm glad everything went alright with your cat meeting the piggies, no biting from either side :)

When we first got the piggies, he came in for a nose but soon shot off when Betty hopped over to see what he was doing! :)

I'm so glad I misread that title.

I read "my car accidently met the piggies!" and thought that you'd run them all over!

Phew!

I never intended for them to actually meet! I think maybe the cat is a bit wary of them as he had troubles when I had a house rabbit! About 4 years ago, before I had my son we had this gorgeous house rabbit. He was an entire male and my cat is neutered so the Bumble decided he was in love with the cat and wanted him for a wife! He used to chase Cloudy, even after Cloudy swiped and hissed at him. It was very one sided true love and so funny to see Cloudy who is a mouser run away from Bumble :(|)

Oh my god that would have been a disaster, luckily they don't get near my car. Hope your heart rate has slowed down now

:(|)

aww, my bindi the boxer lab cross is soft as putty with the guinea pigs, but sprocket the terrier is a poo face! she will not leave them alone, she thinks they're the most interesting things in the world! they just ignore her, but we can't let her in the same room as them without supervision!

That sounds like a complete pain, especially if you're on your own in the house and want to pop the kettle on, you have to remember to bring the dog with you and close the door :(|) Guess that's terriers for you! There's a Jack Russell next to us who's a nightmare, if he's in the garden and my cat wants to go out, the minute he sees Cloudy he goes mental and the poor cat shoots back in again. He even barks at me if I'm just sat on the decking reading!

My cat and guinea's are funny. Until March I had two boys (lived seperately anyway as fought). My cat likes the company of the piggies but does have the instinct to chase them if they move fast (always supervised together), but just jumps over the top of them if she caught them up. Our cat is quite a timid cat but our guineas were both quite confident. Smudge who died would happily walk up to the cat and sniff her which scared her. Usually she'd get up and walk off at which point Smudge normally followed her! On a couple of occasions he kept doing this so she threatened to hit him on the head. Quite funny to watch. Fudge our current pig mainly ignores her, but she likes to sit nearby and watch him in the garden.

Our cat is quite wary of the piggles most of the time, but he does like to sneak in their hutch for a snooze when they're out on the lawn :) ... or share a blanket with them when he can ;)
