I feel like I have had the worse xmas ever.
Just before xmas, my mum was rushed in to hospital. This was a total shock and I never expected it. Luckily, they let her out just before xmas, but for the week prior to xmas, every waking minute was spent at either work or the hospital. She is now home, but cannot be left alone which means that I am spending a lot of time with her at her house (not that I mind, I'm just glad that she is ok!)
The day before xmas, I woke up with a stinking cold. I am never normally ill so it is just my luck that I felt rubbish all over xmas.
On the same day, we noticed that my eldest piggy, Tweak was looking under the weather with lots of saliva around his mouth so we took him to the vet. She couldn't see anything obvious wrong so she gave him an antibiotic and a painkiller and told me to come back the next day. I went back on xmas eve and she said that the antibiotic didn't look to have worked so they wanted to check his teeth as this may have been the cause of the dribble. I left him there and then went out to do some last minute xmas shopping. I had a call from the vet to say that there was nothing wrong with his teeth, but they had found something else. There was a tumor at the back of his mouth which was so big that he couldn't eat or swallow his own saliva. They had consulted a small animal specialist and there was nothing they could do. I went back to the vets and gave him a big cuddle. I stayed with him with him when they put him to sleep. This was totally unexpected and I still can't believe it. I wanted to post about it last week but I couldn't face it as seeing it typed on the forum as this makes it seem more real. He was 3 years old a unique character. He loved to cuddle and was very docile and affectionate. He was very loyal and I loved him to bits.
On the plus side of things, I have two younger brother boars who lived apart as one of them attacked the other (one lived alone and one lived with Tweak). I have now put them together since xmas day and so far so good, fingers crossed.
I hope everyone else had a better xmas than I did! Heres hoping 2009 is better!
