he has been off his food for a while and squeals when he goes to toilet
then a week ago i found bright red blood in his cage which was finished by next morning
took him to vets who prodded his tummy ad said he may have stones
gave my brave baby a/b jab and painkiller jab
still squaling and has now got pink wee
took him back to vet yesterday and he gave him another painkiller
i have to take him bacjk monday for xrays and tests
I'm so worried about leaving him
he never been away from home alone before and he is such a sulker
vet said they will put him to sleep to do the tests as they move too much otherwise
really worried about him
wheaky hugs needed
xx

Hi! Where are you located? Meds are different depending on whether you are in the UK or the US.

Here is some information about bladder stones and also urinary tract infection, which can cause similar symptoms and is much more frequent. Has your vet checked for cystitis/urinary tract infection?

Please be aware that you always need to see a vet straight away if your guinea is losing weight. It can make the difference between life and death. I assume that the vet you are using is a general vet and not a small animal (exotics) vet? How much weight has Chuggles lost? Is he continuing to lose weight?

I'm using pdsa in nottingham as i am on benefits
the guy we saw yesterday was really helpful
he does seem depressed
vet seemed to think it was stones rather than a uti
but tests will show the problem i guess

well my poorly piggy didnt make it
they put him under anaesthetic to operate and remove bladder stones but he was to poorly to get through it.
they didnt even open his tummy up to look.
he is with the angels now
i miss him so much already

You did all you could. Just remember, he is free of pain and medicane. He can munch on grass in the meadows all day as he popcorns about. And he is watching over you for being the best mommy he could ever have. And one day you will meet him again, on rainbow bridge. Goodbye, little wheeky soldier. 8...

I was so saddened to see your post in the rainbow bridge section :0
