So I like watching vet shows, and whenever there's a guinea pig on the show I will point and exclaim "Guinea pig!" It started as a joke, at this point it's almost a reflex response.

So today my adult son and I were in an electronics store buying something. We walked past a TV that was on to show the screen quality, and it was broadcasting random animals for some reason. And lo and behold, there was a guinea pig. And in the middle of the store, I pointed at it, like a toddler, and exclaimed "Guinea pg!" And then I realized how absolutely stupid I appeared and cringed internally, but right at that second the screen changed to a different guinea pig and instead of running out of the store, I loudly exclaimed, "Another one!"

Never going back in that store again.

That’s so funny. Did your son walk away in embarrassment !

This is absolutely the enthusiasm and chaoticness I bring to any situation. This is definitely something I'd do. Life's more fun that way and you find that the public care less than you'd think. It either sparks joy for them or they forget you.

I live by the motto those that matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

You can either die from embarrassment or play it the grand way. Well done for playing it the grand way. People are actually much less bothered if you yourself aren't.

Think of it as making them smile. You have certainly made me smile. Thank you. :)

My eldest child has ASD and mild tourettes. When he was young I made a point of "embarrassing myself" publicly on frequent occasions so he didn't feel so weird! Admittedly it didn't take much as I've always been a bit odd myself. My younger children also joined in and we all found it very liberating.

That made me smile @Freela you think you've got problems! I was walking along a path that's beside a railway line with my daughter last week. I turned to her and said 'oh look a choo choo'. I got some very funny looks from the couple who were just passing us, my daughter is 39, she gave me a funny look too.

My hub still goes like 'Look, there are geegees (UK children's word for horses)' when we visit National Trust houses or the countryside. He is over 70! :D
