Hi all, I had a very sad phone call today.....one of my absolute favourite boarders, little piggle Maisie, is in need of a new home along with her new BFF Minnie. Their owner has 'adopted' a staffy from a terminally ill family member and the dog apparently hates the guinea pigs so much that it barks whenever they appear and jumps up at the cage.....so much so that it's terrifying Maisie and Minnie.

So, the owner has made the very sad decision to rehome Maisie and Minnie :( and has asked if I want them. Sadly, and it's breaking my heart, I just don't have the space for two more girls (I've just rehomed two baby sows, which means that my two herds are complete).

Here's a post I made about Maisie a while ago, while she was a lone piggie
http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=76176

Maisie really is the most amazingly gorgeous girl, and Minnie is beautiful too.

So, it is with a heavy heart that I thought I'd appeal on here to see if anyone local might be interested in rehoming these two fabulous sows. I'm not 100% sure it's my place to be asking, to be honest, but I just can't bear the thought of them going to someone who doesn't have a clue how to care for them. So if I can help to find them a new home with someone from the forum, I'll sleep a bit easier at night!

To be honest, I think the owner just wants them gone, and she knows how I adore Maisie.......

Ps - they come with their cage (not sure of size, make, etc)

Oh nooo I remember maisie, what a twist of fate that she was offered to you! Could you take them temporarily then source a new home on here maybe with the help of a rescue? :...

Oh those poor piggies. Its sad they are being given up for the newer animal. :(

Maybe you could temporarily take them in whilst looking for new home for them on here? It's better for them to be away from the dog if its scaring them so much.

It's fate! She's got to come and live with you, I'm sure you can sneak her in somewhere. Do you really need a sofa? That would make a bit of space :(|)

how awful I have a spare outdoor hutch at the moment but they sound like indoor piggies?

Do you have any pictures of them?
Just thought it might help to get some more interest. Also, how old are they?

Hi Bev, I'm thinking this too......I do have a spare cage at the moment, now that we're past the 'main holiday weeks' rush, so I could take them temporarily. Hmmmm.....x

There's a couple of pics of Maisie on the link I posted in my OP, but I don't think I have one of Minnie. Maisie's about 5, so quite an old girl really, and Minnie's about 8 months old.

One of my main worries with Maisie, way back when she started boarding with me, was that she was lonely and I was convinced that was affecting her health. I tried really hard to persuade the owner to get her a friend, and after a few nagging sessions :{, she finally got Minnie to keep Maisie company.....yay, nagging works, regardless of what my hubby says! inbreeding

She's gorgeous! Why can't they move the piggies into a room the dog can't go in? That's what we've done. I have 3 dogs. Piggies live upstairs, and dogs live downstairs. There is no issue that way.
I really hope they find a home soon. I hate to hear stories like this one.

Oh man! I can vouch for the fact these girls are a beautiful pair that really dote on each other. They deserve a very special home....

If only I didn't have lots of entire boars!

To be honest, I'm pretty sure that if the owner really wanted to keep Maisie and Minnie, then she'd find a way......:(

Hi Rach, they're stunners aren't they? And they're both beautiful in nature as well.

I'm seriously thinking of taking them today (I promised the owner a decision by today) and then either thinking of a way to keep them permanently or rehoming them to someone who'll love them as much as they deserve.

just have them, I am sure we can find a way of squashing them in somewhere, they are worrying me and I dont even know them...
:...

Aww hope they get sorted, we have 4 dogs here one being a lurcher, my boys live upstairs and the dogs downstairs, they won't be outside together either and its easily done, such a shame, but maybe the guineas are best going to someone who really wants them:red

I sincerely hope that you can have them! it will be much easier on Maisie if she can come to a place she is already familiar with.

Awww, poor Maisie and Minnie.

And i'm looking to re-home some needy piggies at the moment too as i've got more space.
But they are too far away to even start considering. :(

I hope you can find a home for them soon. As others have said, maybe it is fate!
You are the one for them. Space will appear. :)

Decision has now been made.....I've told the owner I'd be more than happy to have the girls come live with me. The owner is taking some time to come to terms with it, but hopefully they should be with me by the weekend
