Iv'e had my two piggies for 3 - 4 weeks. And I have been introducing them for awhile but I am having some trouble. My short haired is very dominant and nips my long haired guinea pig. They are both babies (I don't know if that makes a difference.) They shared a cage after about 2 weeks of introductions and their was nipping, no blood shed. But what I have noticed is that the short haired does not let the long haired eat. :(
I think I have to split them up. But now, they are going to be alone.. Which defeats the purpose of getting two. If I put them together at floor time would that be enough for them to be okay? /: I feel so bad that they can't get along. If you could offer tips please tell me.. :)p
Because I want them to be happy together. I have a very large cage that has enough room for the both of them to run around without going ontop of each other.
Please help. Thank you. 8:)

Your girls are still in the dominance phase. Nipping is very normal, also pushing the underpiggy off the food.

Please feed them in separate bowls that are placed far enough away from each other that the top sow can't hug them both at once. Also make sure that each sow has her own hidey and independent access to hay. They will still settle down together eventually.

Here is our sow behaviour guide from the behaviour section, which you may find helpful: http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=38561

Please weigh your piggies once weekly, if they are off colour once daily. it is vital to catch any problems early on.

We also have lots of information on other aspects of piggy care.
