My first Guinea Pigs

Terry boys

Hi all

Is there anyone out there that can help me? I have just got 2 bore guinea pigs and i have made sure that they have separate rooms. I purchased them on Sunday and i have been them alone have hardly handled them. The don't come out of there box very much. I have been giving them treats and leaving them at there door and they have been eating them.

Can anyone offer any advice?

there probaly abit scare!!they sould come out and play when there ready to (feel safe).other then that your doing the right thing!they will soon get to know you if you keep giving them treats
 
i totally agree with GuinesaPigs-4-eva they are probably scared. i remember when i first got my guinea pigs i left them alone but than after a while they got used to their new surronding and they now remember my scent so therefore know who i am!
 
keep talking to them and offer food, they will eventually come to you, they are prey animals so it's their instinct to hide, start picking them up, they will try and get away, so the quicker you can do it the less stressed they will be, once you are holding them they should be fine, over time they will become tame, although sometimes they will still run away from you,two of mine still try to run away when i pick them up,but once I've got them thay are totally fine. It can take a long time, but it's worth it.Another of mine comes to greet me and is really tame and a real character, and another just freezes when i go to pick her up. they all vary.they all love cuddles though.
