He was a show piggy, but also a very loved pet.
His two 'wives' also died along with him.

Probably down to this heat!

That's really sad, was it heatstroke?

She said all 3 were out in the run, one side covered by a towel for shade and a water bottle filled with crushed ice attached to the side.

She cried for an hour straight :(.
She's also got another sick piggle which she's had for 7 years, he has a tumor.

That is so sad :( even if the piggies had a towel for shade, that may not have been enough if the run was in full sun as the heat was unbearable even for me today.

I used to keep mine indoors, & only put them in the run in late afternoon in the shade after the sun had moved around. Indoors we had them in their run with ice blocks under their bedding & a fan running nearby. This weather is lethal for piggies; I can't understand how they survive in their native country to be honest which is much hotter than the UK!

Aww poor wee souls! Can only imagine how devastating this must be for your friend. I really had no idea just how badly guinea pigs could struggle in hot weather.

Me neither, wish I had got some of those Ice pods now.
Luckily, all my hutches are nicely shaded.. nice and cool to the touch aswell.

I've given my lot lots of cucumber and pepper to get extra fluid inside them. Mine went out for about an hour each, until the sun moved and the run was no longer shaded.. even with my sun cover on one side.

I keep going out checking on them :(

It was way too hot today, I struggled being outside and I don't have the hair that a piggy has. I think there is a thread on here somewhere about the signs to look out for with heatstroke, will try to find it and bump it up for info.

:( Oh how awful.

I think when the nice weather comes it's nice to think about putting out the piggys especially if they're indoor pigs. Today was so hot though and not much of a breeze.

RIP llittle ones, so sad :(

I was at a carboot sale today and not one of the stall holder's that had their dog's out all day had water for their dog's its a sore point for me because my mum's much loved staffy died from heatstroke just walking back from the vet's a few years ago so i complained to staff and one was a dog owner and was disgusted and went round the boot sale straight away to tell them all and I'm sure next month she will make sure they all have water too, it's soo sad to die from this it's pretty much untreatable in human's (the vet told my mum) they would cut you open and pack your organs with ice to cool you down as they have to do it quick, I don't think many people are aware how fatal it can be.
