Adult Guinea Pig
Sadly my gorgeous Blossom had to be put down on Sunday. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. She meant the world to me, even though she was just a little hammy. I only wanted the best for her and I couldn't bear to see her suffer. She had lost the use of her hind legs and although she was still fairly perky to begin with, she couldn't move much and when she did, she'd have to drag them around behind her, causing bruising to her tummy. She peacefully left for Rainbow Bridge knowing how much everyone loved her.
From the first day I got you I knew you were special. You were such a sociable hammy, always up for talking by the side of your cage. A little friend that was always there for me, always. I promise sweetheart, even the rattling of the bars didn't matter - I began to worry when you weren't up rattling the bars at night! You were a cheeky girl, who would never stay still. So friendly but nevertheless, you were quite fond of the occasional finger, if you felt a bit peckish...! I just want you to know how much I love you.
It's been difficult without you and no hammy will ever be able to 'replace' you in such a way. Those last hours I had with you were so precious and those first hours without you, so hard. I cried and cried, just praying that I made the right decision and I really hope I did. Sunday night I looked out at the stars for you and I knew that somewhere you were looking down at me.
Run free over the bridge Blossom and be reunited with those we have lost. Send my love to the others, little one, I send my love to you. You can be free now and you can run forever and ever. Nothing will ever stop you now. I'll never forget you Blossy and one day we'll meet again.
