My gorgeous little trish came into my life 3weeks 6days ago.. I can't believe i'm writing this. She was a rescue, thin and with overgrown claws and a large cyst on her neck she had 6 litters of kittens last year:upset:
I took her home and after a few days she became the sweetest little bunny anyone could wish for, she was so cuddly came to call and trusted everyone so much my entire household and all my buns fell in love with her straight away :smitten: All ideas of rehoming her went out the window and she became mine.
6 days ago i found trish had given birth to 4 stillborn babies, i never knew she was pregnant. I sat with her while she tried so hard to make them live, at one point she was sat squeaking at them then hopping out the hutch onto my knee but she wouldnt let me take them. I removed them the next morning when she let me.
She seemed sad, and a bit under the weather so i took her to the vet who said she seemed healthy enough and that maybe in her own rabbit way she was missing her youngsters. I put her in with the puffs and this seemed to cheer her up a lot though she was still a lot quieter than she had been. The vet said to giver her time.... so i did
Tonight my gorgeous little girl passed away in my arms. She hopped to the front of the hutch to say hi and for her usual cuddle. When i picked her up she shuddered a bit and then lay on her side in my arms. She was going striaght to the emergency vet.
Sadly she didn't make it that far and she stopped breathing in my arms about 10 minutes later.
She is going in for a PM the vet thinks she may have retained a kit on some afterbirth:upset::upset:
I'm so sorry little girl, I'll miss you and i hope wherever you are that you're happy. Maybe you and shadow can be playmates together

She has such a lovely face, I can understand why you were so smitten with her and so saddened by her dying. I'm really very sorry that these things have to come to an end, alas that is the way things have to be. Rest asured you gave her the very best life she could have had and remember those good times with her, I am sure wherever she is, she remembers you very fondly too.
