i feel so sad, one of the first guinea pigs i ever got 'john' is dying, he is now 6 and a half, and he has had a good life, however over the last three days he's stopped eating, getting thin, and his eyes are dull and blank, he's just lying there and time will soon take him, his brother has never left his side. its old age, I'm so so sad at the moment, ive just been and given him a hug and said its ok to go.

cant say anything else at the moment, i have a lump in my throat

HUGS

I am very sorry; it is hard and heartbreaking to see a beloved pet fade away.

I'm sorry sweetheart. I didn't get over my first pig loss for months and months :( Just be there for him, perhaps sit them on your lap or a cushion and stroke until he goes? xx It took my first 3 days, he died of heart failure :(

Sending you big hugs - so sorry that you're losing him. Please try to focus what a wonderful life he had with you. He's six and a half! I wish my piggies lived to that age - I seem to lose them when they get to 3 or 4!
Please know you have the love and support from all on this forum!
Big hugs xxxxx

I'm so so sorry. It's very hard. You have given him a wonderful life tho don't forget that. BIG hugs x

Aw, this made me cry :0
Hope John has a peaceful journey to The Bridge - he has had a wonderful life and we all understand your grief and are here for you x>>

I'm sorry to hear that John is unwell :(

Had John seen a vet? Maybe you should give them a call and discuss it with them. It may be kinder to help him over the bridge as it could take a while for him to go on his own.

Sometimes the kindest thing is to make that decision to end their suffering.

Hugs to you all

As heartbreaking as it is, I think that making that decision to let them go is the last act of love you can give to your pet.

My thoughts are with you. I went through the same just a month ago with my very special boy Archie. I sat up all night with him hoping he would just slip away, but when he was still clinging on by morning, I took him to be put to sleep.

Sending you love and hugs xx

So sorry about John. It's a difficult time when a beloved pet dies. I agree that having them PTS is often the best thing, but also, given what you've said about his brother, I believe it's best to let the surviving pet see and touch the one who has died, so that they can accept why he's no longer there. Sending sympathy and warm thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear John is poorly. You have looked after him so well for him to be 6 1/2. I can't imagine how you must be feeling right now.
I agree with others about going to the vets.
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxx
