Hi guys

I fed my little piggies this morning all was seemingly well, when i got home at 11.00 am my lovely blueberry was dead. The other piggies were squeeking to get my attention. There was no sign off illness. in fact i bathed and trimmed her hair only a few days ago.
can you advise me as to what it could be. she was only 3 yrs old. Do i need to clean the cage out and disinfect? I only changed the cage yesterday.
I'm very sad about this she was such a gentle relaxed piggy and the kids loved her cause she looked like dougal from magic roundabout.

I am so very sorry for your loss :(

If Blueberry wasn't showing any signs of illness, it is possible that she may have died from a hear attack or some natural cause. If this was the case, there is nothing you could have done.

Yes, 3 years old is a young age to lose a pig but if it was her time to go, it was meant to be.

(((hugs))) to you x

OMG what a shock for you all, and for her little friends 8...8...
It is so hard to know what went wrong..........as Claire said it could be a number of things :{ they can hide sickness so well :(
I hope you'll be doing a tribute in the rainbow thread area so i can send you all some special loves XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
RIP Blueberry xx>>>

Oh no! I am so sorry, what an awful shock for you! (((((HUGS)))). Play in peace beautiful Bluebell x

Oh no so sorry to hear this, RIP blueberry, popcorn free!

Could it have been heatstroke from the recent weather?

Very sorry to hear this, must have been an awful shock. As suggested above, could it have been down to the heat or have you had thunder near you, could Blueberry have been scared of that and then sadly passed away?
RIP Blueberry sleep well little one x

BIG HUG

I am so sorry for you - sudden unexplainable death happens actually quite often if you have a look through the threads, and it is always so very upsetting! The majority of piggies are rather carelessly churned out to be sold nowadays (I would not even call it breeding). I suspect that a higher rate of heart failure is one of the things that comes with this situation.

When I lost Ffion last year during a vet visit because her heart was suddenly visibly straining and she went very lethargic, it took me quite a long time to come to terms with it.

((HUGS!)) I am so sorry for your loss. It does sound sudden... I would wonder if it could have been her heart or something if she was not showing signs of illness.
