Hi,
Is have 3 guinea pigs one Peruvian, one silkie and a Abyssinian/Ridgeback cross. I have found that my Peruvian, Bumblebee, hates being brushed. I'm as gentile as possible and use a range of different brushes but she still hates it. She chatters her teeth, kicks and squeaks. Whilst brushing her I also feed her treats. Ive always kept her hair neat and brushed and she is washed with lice and fungle shampoo once every 4 months. Has anyone got any idea what might be wrong?

Is she mainly sensitive on her back area? Some piggies are very sensitive in this area. You might find that if you groom everywhere else first and avoid the tender spot she will relax. The other option is to have her clipped, to avoid the need for grooming. But first, check carefully that she has no sores or debris on her skin. Mites can make them very sensitive. If in doubt get your vet to check her over.

Turn veggie time into veggie/grooming/ lap time.. She should associate the brushing with veggies which should help her calm down.

If she still really protests then keeping the hair short is probably an all round better option x

Thankyou guys, Bumblebee is very sensitive on her bum. I always trimmed her hair quite short. I tried feeding her veggies whilst I brushed her and it was amazing, she sat there eating whilst I brushed her. It was as if she didn't even notice me. The photo I've added is once she had her hair cutIMG_20160705_200454.webp

What a gorgeous guinea pig. Glad the vegetables worked. She looks wonderful.
