Earlier today one of my guinea pigs, Candyfloss. was running up her ramp and fell between the gap next to her hutch. She tried to grab onto the ramp with her paws but fell. She banged slightly against the side but seems to be okay. I am particularly worried as my other guinea pig, Popcorn, has fallen once before so it is a bit of a sore spot... 😞. Flossy is eating well (as usual 😉), lots of rosemary, grass, cucumber, hay and a few daisies. I checked her all over, she seems ok, her teeth and lips fine, no obvious bruising, cuts, etc. Even though she looks fine, I wonder if I should be taking any extra precautions, taking her to the vets, checking anything else and so on. Should I give her any pain relief medicine or anything like that, and if so can someone recommend a good company? It happened a few hours ago now, (I was debating with my dad whether she needed medical attention or not, but I thought I should post something on here anyway just so we know), so I don’t know if medicine would make a difference now, but hopefully it will.
Thank you! 😊

It would be wise for you to call the vet and ask if they want to see her.
We would not recommend giving any medication unless it is vet prescribed.

Hi!

Please keep a close eye on her and contact the vet any time as an emergency if she is not moving well or is off. Hopefully she has had a luck escape.

It may however be useful if you considered making your ramp more secure (better grip, railings, less steep angle etc. in order to avoid further falls. Many ramps are frankly not suitable for guinea pigs.

Thank you so much😊! Ok, I won’t give her any medication. The ramp has rope that I wrapped around it for grip and is not to steep I think.... tomorrow I will attach railings onto it. Do I need to by special ones or can I just secure some wood to the sides?

If flossy seems ok then luck is with you.
You keeping a watch and if you worried then you nèed to call a vet.
Hope all is ok. X
