My Guinea Pig Has A Wound

Hi guys, I used to have an account here for my Ratisilaos and baby Taco,but I losted the password so i created a new account . Well my problem is that I had to leave my piggies for 20 days cause my cousin had a serious health problem, and I left them with a petsitter. My pet sitter wasnt trimming my long haired guinea pig,she was scared because Ratisilaos was moving, I don't blame her for that ,but when I came back home I found my guinea pig with tangled matted hair I bought expensive scissors to cut his fur ,and I followed all the advices I found on the internet, but right now he has a wound ,and the area where I cutted his hair is bald. The wound don't look so serious and its really small but I'm scared. I don't know what to do cause my vet is on a trip now, and I don't have any other exotic animal vets that I trust, all of them are a disaster. I will try to post a picture later

I’m not a expert but I would suggest cleaning it and keep a eye on it

@Crazypiggiesss Did you cause the wound with the scissors when you cut the hair, or was the wound already there?

If you caused it then I would keep a close eye on it to make sure it starts to heal okay and not get infected.

If it was already there then a photo would be great. It could be a bite wound which can easily get infected or it could be something that needs medical treatment.

So if you can give us a little more info that would be great.

Hi!

Please disinfect the wound with saline solution. You can get sterile saline from any pharmacy or make it at home by boiling 250 ml of water and then mixing 2 teaspoons of salt into it. Apply when it has cooled down.
