please help!
this morning I took my guinea pig (Edward) out of his cage to give him a pat, I noticed his skin was dry and flakey, and i thought it was lice.
When i was searching around his fur i found a medium sized cut, and the blood was already dry.
What do i do?
should i wash it?
or bring him to the vet?
i'm going to put him in a separate cage to my other guinea pig.
and i'll post some photos.
he is sleeping lots and not moving

please send some advice.

I usually take mine to the vet. This gives me peace of mind knowing my pets are cared for.

Sometimes if I can't get an appointment with a vet soon enough, I lose sleep and stay awake all night.

Both my Finn and Lara live indoor so nothing from outside can get to them.

Ok, thanks you.
I don’t think it’s that bad that I need to go to the vet.
But I’m just wondering if I should wash it or something.
But the problem is that I can’t find the cut anymore, it’s lost in all his fur

If his skin is dry and flakey, he could have mites. The cut could be from him biting himself due to the itching.

But only a vet can diagnose and prescribe the correct treatment

You do need a vet as you need a diagnosis behind the cut and the appropriate medication to resolve the problem. Mites or lice can cause piggies to scratch or bite themselves from the itching and if the diagnosis is for either of these both piggies would need to be treated.
I wouldn't separate your piggies unless there is tension and fighting between them. If they have either of the above conditions it's likely that it's in the environment such as the hay

I would recommend a vet trip just to be sure the cut is clean and not infected and also if it is just a cut and not something more serious.

Hi, Hettie had hay mites and had bitten at her skin and made it bleed.

Would definitely take your piggy to the vets .
