My guinea pig Gus sneezed three times in a row the other day. Usually it is just a sneeze every once in a while but this time it worried me. I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything on the subject. Did anyone else experience the same thing? I want to know if I should take him to the vet or not.

If at all worried a vet visit for a quick check up is advisable. If nothing else it will put your mind at ease. A vet would rather see a Piggy with nothing wrong and an anxious owner than an ill piggy with an owner that has left it too late. I go with if in doubt .... Vet.

Hi!

Please take a deep breath!

No, you don't need to worried. It was likely just a little hay dust that has got in the nose and with just three sneezes, it was a very minor incident at that! :)
Guinea pigs often sneeze at the end of a piggy wash to clear their noses; they do that several times a day.

You only need to be worried if it is persistent sneezing (not a one-off sneezing fit) that goes on multiple time an hour and that is going on for days. If you have got a regular sneezing, then you should see a vet, but also consider changing your hay brand and look for a different dust extracted product. They are not all the same quality.

Okay thank you so much for the info! Was totally freaking out for a minute there!

My Finn sneezed three times in a row today, and haven't sneezed since then.
I was going to take him to the exotic vet if he continued to sneeze but he hasn't sneezed any more.

I had a thread on this and got the same response! :woot::woot:
