I have two male guinea pigs, they’ve lived with each other for 3+ years and have always gotten along, but now cookie (the more dominant one) keeps nibbling at the fur round mr pickles bum, mr pickle doesnt seem overly bothered by it at first but he does start to get irritated and shakes cookie off. Is this normal behaviour?

Hi!

It is called barbering and is normal behaviour, especially if the nibbled boy is a long-hair.

You may find our illustrated barbering guide helpful; it looks at the different aspects of barbering since it can mean different things in different contexts. @Piggies&buns has given you the link the link to it in their post.

I always wondered what that is. Bill sometimes does that to Ted, he doesn’t eat any fur, he follows him round sniffing his bum?
