Hi all. As the title says. He's not showing any signs of illness. though it sounds like he could be "huffing" or something. As far as eating, he eats. As far as drinking...well, the thingy isn't going down so I guess he might not be drinking. His peeing and pooing is fine in color. He pees every day. Is this maybe a diet thing? I feed him hay and veggies.....pellets, I have been out of for a few days. I, unfortunately, live in the country and going to town is a task. But, if it is the pellet emergency, I have rabbit pellets? Is it possible he could eat a bowl of my rabbit's pellets until I can get some? I think I'm headed to town today. He feels slim and he is scaring me. His weight on April 27th was 1089g and today, may 11 he is 1012g....Help. I'm gonna cry. I love Newt so much.

Don't panic. How long has he been without pellets?
Maybe 5 days? I know, thats bad, but I run from funds to funds. I had to wait. Please don't think I'm irresponsible. they live way better than myself. I don't eat as much as them and use my money to ffed them. I bought extra veggies since I knew it would be a few days. I fed them cilantro, romaine, carrot, occasionally rarely a banana and celery to make up for it. Oh, and hay!

It's ok. Don't feel bad. I'd go ahead and give them a little bit of the rabbit pellets until you can go into town. Not sure about the weight loss though. The water may not be going down because you've been feeding them a lot of veggies.

Oh okay. That could be a problem with the water drinking. Romaine is kind of wet. I don't feed it to the point of soft poops though. Maybe he lost weight due to just not having pellets. Needless to say, I will be weighing him every day at the same time, and if I don't see improvement, I will take him to the vet.

I've a horrible feeling that pellets for rabbits include a supplement that guinea pigs shouldn't have. As pellets aren't essential providing they are getting sufficient hay and veg, I would wait until you can buy gp pellets.

I gave them a very little bit of rabbit pellets. This is only one time. It’s veggies only from now on.

I should think they'll be fine.

I'm not sure though about the huffing you mentioned in your first post. It could be a symptom of something such as a Uri, particularly if he continues to lose weight. If that is the case, I would be inclined to get him an appointment at the vet as soon as you are able to.
