For some reason my piggy will sit on his house and just sleep on it, I have no idea why he does this. Anyone have any ideas? 9A0EF589-8AEB-4E34-A9E8-FE7A0F0D0976.webp

Hi and welcome to the Forum.
:wel:

Without seeing a picture of the whole set up it is difficult to say, but unfortunately it looks like both the cage and house are much too small for your guinea pig.
The reason he isn't using it is probably becasue it isn't comfortable for him, and it looks like he doesn't have a lot of other options.
Guinea pigs often enjoy a cardboard box with a door cut out of it - maybe try something like this and then stuff it with hay to encourage him to use it.

hello and welcome to the forum
You have a very handsome little chat there x

I agree with Swissgreys. It looks like you have him in what a shop would sell as a hamster cage but is too small even for a hamster. Also there is no way he is squeezing under that tunnel, it's definitely too small for him

Welcome to the forum, I don’t know your circumstances or if you know how much space guinea pigs need but unfortunately it looks like your cage and house are both too small for him. Also is there a reason he is on his own?

Yes upgrade time for your cage and houses as they do grow...and has he a friend as they love company xx
Pets at home are doing buy 2 get one free on the guinea pig houses and tunnels.near me maybe you could have a look.... I had 2 large houses and a tunnel for £15 xx

Cardboard boxes make a good interim house. I bought a guinea pig mansion from Amazon which my boys love, but one of them will perch on the top platform and settle down there to sleep. I think he likes to be able to look over his kingdom at the same time. Some pigs just like height and can jump quite high to sit on top of things (like mine!)

You’ve been given some good advise above. Look closely at the required size for guinea pigs. If you have space for a cage that’s at least 140cm long then please make serious plans to get your piggy a friend (boar as spayed sows are as rare as hens teeth). If you can’t get that size then I’d sadly recommend you think seriously about whether you can keep guinea pig(s).

There are ways to adapt cages so they have enough room. Beautiful boy by the way ☺️ I recommend boxes, cheap hides and nice chewing thing as well.
