my guinea pig, pepperoni (about 3mo), is a rather quiet guy. he tends to purr when i pet him, but he has only squeaked a few times. when he tries to squeak its very strained and quiet. as far as i know he is rather healthy and eats his food and hay & drinks water. he's generally happy. i have another guinea pig, butter, and he's eats just as much as pepperoni and drinks the same amount of water, but butter squeaks on a daily basis. ive had guinea pigs before pepperoni and butter, so i know how things works and what squeaks sound like. butter is all good, but i dont really know what's up with pepperoni. please help! thanks

Hi and welcome!

Piggies are as different as humans - you get the chatter boxes, the complainers, the whiners and you get the strong silent types.
Nothing wrong with Pepperoni; it's just the way he is. ;)

I have one guinea pig who never shuts up - seriously Harry squeaks just walking around the cage, and any noise that might be food sends him into a frenzy of wheeking!
Eddi on the other hand was very quiet and rarely made any noise at all.
The others all fall somewhere in the middle, so it sounds like Pepporoni is just one of the quiet ones.

Some pigs are quiet by nature... right now we have Hadley (quiet pig) and Leela (extremely noisy pig.) It's just their personalities. We have run the gamut from pigs who never make a sound to pigs who are so 'chatty' that we have to turn the TV up when they are out.
