I have had my Guinea Pig Nibbles for about 3 years now (a boy) he did have a friend but died last year. He went of his hay about 2 months ago but his teeth etc are fine, we tried buying different brands etc. He still eats his veggies and nibble food fine and drinks loads.

However the past 2 weeks we have noticed that he REALLY smells and we cannot understand where it is coming from whether it's his poo or his wee? I cleaned him out yesterday and already today he really smells! It's not him or his fur cause I've smelt and I do bathe him once a week.

I did read about older male guinea pigs being impacted and it showed how to help that but we did it yesterday and not a lot came out at all so I don't think it's that either.

The smell is foul and does smell like poo/fart smell but I only cleaned him out yesterday and the smell is so overpowering and stays so unless it's the urine or something?! It's doing my head in not knowing what it could be and how to stop it :/ Thanks for any help! These were my first Guinea Pigs so am still learning as he get's older and changes! Lol :)

I would have him checked out by the vet. When I first got my rabbit he smelt very bad and it was a gut problem.

I agree, I think he needs a check by a vet. It is also worrying that he can't eat hay as it is such an important part of his diet. I would get his teeth checked again.

Does his breath smell at all? like a damp dishcloth? has he ever had any fungal issues?

I agree with the others, sounds like he needs a check up with a piggy savvy vet. Hope you get him sorted soon.
