My Guinea Pig Was Put Down Today, I Want To Know What Was Wrong With Her.

My guinea pig hadn't been eating properly for 3 weeks and was already a very skinny piggy and would only eat mushed up food, we took her to the vets twice before and had her teeth checked and we had to feed her on mushed up dried food and water, then today I found her on her side with blood around her mouth, we took her to the vets and she was put down. The vet said her gums were very pale and he couldn't see any reason why she was bleeding other than that it was from further inside. It was so horrible holding her, as she kicked slightly covers in blood before she was put down, for the better obioualy.

Does anybody have an idea what could have been wrong with her?
 
I am so sorry for your loss.
It sounds like you had tried very hard for your little piggie, and did the kindest thing in letting her go.
Sadly our pigs are often excellent at hiding their illness, so it is almost impossible to say why she died.
 
:agr: It's really hard to tell sometimes what went on, or it could be a combination of factors.

You can ask for the vet to do a necropsy, but even then you can't always get the exact cause.

I am very sorry about you loss, I hope you're okay.
 
Thanks for your support guys, I've got 3 left now, its heartbreaking watching them looking around , squeeking for her but its for the best.
