In need of some advice, So I have been trying different fresh vegetable's like bell peppers, carrots, lettuce, celery, and I have even tried some fruit like banana, melon, and apple, but my guinea pig wont even try them! All she eats is her Alf Alfa hay and her pellets. Is there a way I can get her to like something new? (also she's very heavily prego so could it have to do with that or is she just picky)

Hi Ruby. As long as she is eating pellets and hay, then her gut will keep moving and it is not an immediate cause for concern. As long as piggies have a constant supply of hay they will be happy enough.

Has she always been fussy with veg, or has she recently stopped eating it? Is she eating a good amount of hay, or just picking at it? Is she drinking water, and pooing as normal?

If she is only picking at hay, and not pooing as normal, then this would be worrying, particularly with her pregnancy.

Thank you, she eats a lot of hay and pellets just nothing else I try to give her, I'm not sure if she was picky before pregnancy because I adopted her pregnant. And she does drink plenty of water and her poops seem normal! I've gotten her special guinea pig treats and she won't eat thoughts either.

Guinea pig treats are junk food so it is lucky she would not eat them. Maybe she was never fed vegetables so is unsure of them. When the babies are old enough to eat them it may encourage her to as guinea pigs copy each other.

Thanks everyone! I probably won't be purchasing anymore piggy treats, but I'm not going to throw in the towel on the veggies, at least not yet! Hopefully her babies can show her what its all about when they get here!

Usually, green leafy veg and herbs are the best to lure piggies into fresh food. Try fresh coriander/cilantro, little gem or romaine lettuce, spinach and kale (both normally too high in calcium to be fed more than occasionally, but during pregnancy and nursing perfectly OK).

Stay off any shop treats that contain seed, fat, sugar/honey or dairy like yoghurt. They are a definite no-no!

Try simple grass from outside to start. None of my rescues or pets have refused it. Then again, none of them would eat fruits or veggies, rabbits also want nothing to do with them. :/
