I have noticed that my Guinea pigs Cheryl and Millie have been scratching an awful lot and biting their legs for the last 2 days, they live indoors and have only newspaper and the dust extraced hay from pets at home in their cage, i dont use wood shavings as Cheryl has a sensitive chest, they dont seem to have any bald patched or anything, i was thinking maybge mites from the hay, but my other piggy Buttercup who lives in a seperate cage and has also had the hay in is not scratching :{

Hi Carly, it does sound suspicious of mites. It may be worth bathing Cheryl and Millie first to see if the irritation eases, an anti-parasitic shampoo like Fleaordie or Lice 'n' Easy would be ideal. The hay could be to blame or it may just be "one of those things".

Hi Thankyou for your advice, ive seen the spray that you can buy as well from the petshops i think its made by Johnsons, do you know if that would be any good? I'm a bit wary about shampooing my Guinea Pigs as the last one i smampooed due to mite died from pneumonia. where could i get the ones you suggested?
Many Thanks
