Hi

I wonder if anyone can help, both my Guinea pigs have stopped talking? They are still eating well and drinking,

I took them both to the vets on Monday to have their nails clipped, and he checked them over, and found nothing wrong.

Is this normal? or not?

my lot go through quiet times...
are they still active...?

Okey doke, i will have a go at that...lol

I did think it might be because i bought them a new cage? but the new cage is lovely, about 5ft by 3ft and 2 floors. but that was about 4 weeks ago.

Could it be that, could they be homesick for their old cage?

that sounds like a fab cage...
i dont know wether they get homesick... i know when ive moved my lot to new cages and in to their hutch... they didnt act differently...

are they young...?
becuase i spose if they are young then they could be a bit un-nerved being in a new cage and it could take them a while to settle down....

Marmite is well over a year, and i Don't really know how old Mia is (shes a rescue pig) but shes fully grown.

I tried the plastic bag thing, and they both looked at me like i was mad...lol

My big girls aren't really big talkers, nothing wrong, they just aren't big chatters, not that i hear anyway. My babies are though LOL

Maybe they have just been slowly getting less talkative, as they have been getting older, but i haven,t noticed

But they seem happy enough, just put their favourite thing in A paper bag filled with hay, and they are both trying to squeze their big bums in it....lol

Thanks for your help

I wouldnt worry, my Teddy doesnt speak at all. Never has, and Dougal only ocassionally chunts. Jasper only speaks when he has floor time and he can smell the other pigs, but even thats just a little bit of squeaking. The babies are the only really vocal pigs i have! As long as they appear happy and are eating, drinking etc then i am sure they are fine. Often piggies quieten down as they get older, maybe they are just not vocal naturally :)

My big piggies don't wheak much except one when she hears the kitchen door opening. Ava the rescue mum I am fostering has never made a noise, but Buzz aka (duey) never shuts up as soon as you walk into the room he starts. Really funny to watch.
