I have tried making several different recipes but this is one I came up with myself and it's his absolute favourite. I've never seen any instructions for making these online so I don't know if anyone else makes them for their pigs. They're practically identical to the baked carrot crisp things you can buy in pet stores... Except that Marley completely ignores the shop brought ones and goes crazy for the ones I bake! Maybe the ones in pet shops contain other ingredients or are baked differently.

1. Peel a carrot. Chop it cross ways into thin little. "Coins". They should be 1-2mm thick but not so thin that they are translucent. (Otherwise they will stick to the baking tray)

2. Lay them straight on a baking tray.

3. Put them in a preheated oven at 120 degrees Celsius for an hour and a half.

4. Leave to cool for 15mins and they are ready to serve.

They don't look very appetising but Marley could eat them forever and he is so fussy when it comes to treats. I also think that they're fairly healthy and are useful as a small reward.

They should come out looking like this:

Not the most appetising but who cares if they like them then it's a winner!

Haha yes it's weird how he'll happily eat these but not the expensive beautiful treats from the pet shops... They're obviously designed to appeal more to the human buyer than the guinea pig consumer!

Thats a very good recipe :) I will definately try it myself! I have tried making treats before but I had to throw them away as I didn't bake them and I used water so it got all wierd smelling! You can tell I don't really bake, lol my mum does it all for me :D

Great idea! I'm going to make some today. How do you store them? And how long can they be stored for? And how many can they have a day? Like 2?
