Oh how lovely!

We get loads of Hoggies in our garden :)
That's fab to know @*kate* :luv: We've also found evidence of hedgehogs in the garden :) I've put out bowls if water for them under covers so cat's Mahdi other predators can't get to them.

I'm helping out with a local rescue who are up to their eyeballs with baby hedgehogs. I'm still being trained up and loving every minute of it :luv:

Is it the rescue in Four Oaks? I was at my Vets, in Four Oaks, when a hoggy was brought in as our vets work in partnership with that rescue :)

Yup, that's the one :) The vets you mentioned is where the hogs are treated, they are great with them :luv:

I'll try and get more piccies but I need more hands! :lol!: Plus there is the dog too who insists on not leaving me alone, bless her

Well done Tim - I love the idea of helping out hedgehogs, but I don't think we get many in this part of the world.

We get hedgehogs too, they help keep the veg patch slug free. I've only seen them twice since I've lived here but they often leave a calling card on the patio to let me know they've been.

If you have gravel boards, you'll need to make a hole them either side of your garden or dig a tunnel under it so the hedgehogs have access to neighbouring gardens. They need at least 10 gardens to find food and water. You can attract the hogs by leaving out bowls of water and meaty cat food. Also by leaving an area of your garden unkept will encourage them to nest :)

Oh thanks. I don't have any gravel boards but nothing unkempt...so I need to work on an area for them...I'm sensing a project

Would love to hear or get an indication of hogs in the garden, I'm sure we used to have them

Their poos are usually black and shiney, size of a pound coin(ish)
If you think you have hogs, place two bowls of food 10 metres apart and look between the two bowls :)

We had a hedgehog when we lived in New Zealand that would visit quite often and we fed it bread soaked in milk. I don't think we get them here though.

Ah yes, other important things to note...

Do not use slug pellets, hedgehogs will eat the slugs then die slowly and painfully :(

Do not put milk out for them, hogs are lactose intolerant. They'll still drink it though because they are thirsty, but they will be very sick and give them diarrhoea. Leave them a dish of water.

Set a camera up in your garden, it's great to catch them dancing and zooming about :D

Oh dear, we probably made the poor thing sick and it still came back :(

Ours come into the garden under the back gate!

I feed them semi moist hedgehog food and mealworms. The most I've seen, at any one time, is 4, all shoving each other out of the way to get at the food!

We get all sizes from fully grown adults through to babies! I feel very lucky!

One other thing is if they mate in your garden, the sounds are horrendous. Put the food & water in the neighbours garden?
