Ahhh. Not been on this forum for so long. But felt as if I needed to come back and share some news with you all. And look for some comfort. As a lot of you understand what its like to lose one of your little piggles. :(

My little Butters passed away on Wednesday night, but I didn't find out until last night as I had been working. On Thursday morning I rustled the foodbag and thought he would come running and squeaking like he usually does, but he never showed, so I just assumed he was sleeping. Would never have thought that he had passed away as he was so young. (not even two!)
It wasn't until after I had came home last night, I was lying in bed and my Dad came in, he goes "I've not seen the little guy in a while, is he alright?" and I was like of course he's alright don't be silly. and then my Dad said "well, I hope he's no' deed!" of course, my Dad was joking, but when I checked Butters' wee house, there he was, lying there. :( I tried to convince myself that he was just sleeping, but he was so cold.

I cried until about three in the morning, and then cried when I woke up, and cried all day at work today. And still crying now. Ahhh. I was so attached to the wee guy. Its so awful to lose him, I've never lost one of my piggles before. :(

We buried him when I came home from work tonight. He's all snuggled up in his cosy bed with his favourite toys. So he'll be all comfy for his wee afterlife.

Everyone at work couldn't understand why I was so upset. Of course, they would've seen Butters as "just a guinea pig," but all you lovely people know that they're not "just guinea pigs," and that they're a part of the family.

I feel as if I'm ranting a wee bit now, but I just had to let it all out. But you guys all understand. :) which I love!

Sleep well, my baby Butters. xxxxxx

Aww so sorry to hear about your sad news, it dont matter if its your first or 15th piggy that you have lost, every time its really hard and other people just dont understand, I remember when I had to have my dog put down after having her for 17 years, I got told she was just a dog and to grow up. Big hugs to you hun. He will be over the bridge now with all the other piggies RIP little one.

Oh no, it's even more tragic than normal when they go suddenly without any warning. And I completely agree, they really are part of the family :(
Rest in peace Butters, run free over the bridge. Fudge, Goggles and Arnold will be there waiting and watching over you x

Thank you for your kind messages you guys.
It really means a lot to hear from people who properly understand.

I forgot to say, that I had phoned the vet to try and the determine the cause of Butters' sudden death.
His tummy was very swollen, so she thought his stomach just might've twisted. And she said that even if we had noticed it as soon as it happened, there would've been nothing she could've done about it. :(

In a way, I'm glad I didn't take him to the vet. I'm glad he went to sleep in his wee bed, rather than having to get put down.

I'm sure my wee guy will be happy now with all the other piggies. x

So sorry for the loss of your piggie. Many people don't understand that Piggies are part of your family. It is heartbreaking when the leave us. *big hugs*

RIP Butters

So sorry to hear about Butters. What a shock for you to find him in his forever sleep......Poporn free at the bridge little one....

I'm so, so sorry sweetie! Of course they're menbers of the family.. I've had Kiwi and Rylee for just a week, and they've come into my heart already.. We love them so much and it's so hard when it comes to say goodbye :(

Actually, last year, my 6 month-old bunny, Layla Grace was doing perfectly fine until one moorning, I was home alone and I went to her cage and she was laying there, with her eyes open, and couldn't stand up.. I gave her some watter/food and she wouldn't take it in. Suddenly, she started shacking, harder and harder. I thought something was seriously wrong and I called my mom to come running from work to get us to the vet ASAP. Meanwhile, in just less than 5 minutes, little Layla was getting very weak and I held her in my arms cause I knew she was passing away somehow. I kept telling her 'Hold on, girl, Hold on.. STAY AWAKE' but then, I lost hopes, as she was in my against my chest and didn't breath almost anything.. 'Don't worry, Layla, Go to the fields of God, Kiss Layla for me (a little baby girl who died of cancer and that my bunny was named after)' I kept telling her it was going to be okay, and in the end, it was for her. She was in a better place.. but I CRIED sooo hard too..... :'(

Praying for you and your lil fella, watching over you tonight!

I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost two of my piggies at a young age now through sudden heart failure. It was always a big shock. Please always investigate when you don't see a piggy as normal; he may be ill and need urgent treatment.

RIP Butters

I am so sorry for your loss, but am glad you came on here to tell us about it. Of course we understand you cry all you like. Poor little Butters. He was much too young to go over the Bridge. Hugs for you...x
