My little girl

Sadly my other guibea pig died yesterday, age 8 years old. I am absolutely heartbroken xx
I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost one of my pigs July last year and there are days where the grief can still be strong. He was terminally ill so we knew that our days were numbered but his passing absolutely broke me. His cagemate was so lost without him too so he was bonded with another pig in only three days. He was just so alone without his friend. It’s never easy to lose a pet, they really do become family.

You are planning on bonding your new girl with another pig though, right? Guinea pigs should never live alone as they’re herd animals. Keeping only one is even illegal in some places around the world! The best thing to do is to adopt a bonded pair from a rescue as they’re guaranteed to get along, as well as be healthy. But as you’ve already chosen a new piggy, the best way to bond her with another would be to ring a local rescue and ask if they do guinea pig bonding! That way they can properly match the personalities of both pigs together and ensure they get along (it’s such a long process, it can take around 8 hours!)

Meet my new baby girl, age 11 weeks. No name yet though xx
Oh she is such a little cutie! She actually reminds me of my boy Gregory who was also a baby brought in as company for my bereaved boar- same colouring. Gregory is now chief pig with 5 wives so you picked a good 'un in my view! 😂. So pleased for you x

She’s a beauty! I hope you can find her a friend very soon. And sorry for your loss. That is a very good age
