Yesterday Lexi didn't come downstairs for her tea with the others so I tried to encourage her to go but she just lay there and when I picked her up she was floppy. She started coughing and sneezing so I rushed her to the vets. the vet found she had bitten into her lip and her bottom teeth were stuck so she hadn't been eating or drinking and was bloated. The vet knocked her out a bit to free her teeth and gave her some jabs but when she brought her back to me she looked very poorly and started to bite her lip again. The vet thought that the bloat might be causing her pain and this has caused her to bite her lip so she stayed in hospital. They rang this morning to say that she had died.
I feel like I should be crying so much more for her but I mostly feel numb. It was so sudden, yesterday morning she was pootling about fine. I just don't think it has really sunk in yet. I had to hide it all day at work and try to get on and not think about it and then when I went to pick her up, because it had been a while, seeing her was not as much of a shock. I showed Charlotte and Kizzy her body so they will understand and Charlotte kept nudging her to get up and Kizzy sniffed her and then lay down with her chin on Lexis tummy. I'm going to bury her next to the other piggies in the back corner of the garden near this nice flowering bush.

I am so sorry - bloat is a horrible thing to happen to a piggy. Even with instant care you are up against it, so don't blame yourself too much!

I'm so very sorry....Its very difficult seeing our piggies unwell and heartbreaking when they pass. Popcorn free at the bridge sweet lexi..
 
I'm so terribly sorry, so very very sorry. I thought Lexi would pull through after talking to you yesterday evening. You must be in shock now, just one thing after another recently. I am in tears for your loss. I do hope Charlotte and Kizzy find comfort in each other and that this doesn't set Charlotte back at all in her pull back to health.

RIP Lexi. You will be sorely missed.

Don't feel you have to hide your feelings - this is a devastating time, I lost two of my girls on wednesday to a dog unfortunately and I know how you feel. Family and friends should understand and support you:) Give her a proper little funeral - i do not have this as we never found my babies bodies.

Sorry about your piggies, you too candyfloss. I'm sure they are all looking out for each other. When I found out about Lexi yesterday morning I was at work. I work in a school and had to put on a brave face when I had to go and support the kids in the lessons. Between lessons, in my office I was consoling myself with chocolate and coca cola. Once I got home and I could cry I just felt numb, I still haven't had a really good cry, just felt generally miserable. I still keep expecting her to be in the hutch with her friends and even looked for her this morning. She is now buried next to Millie in the back corner of the garden with a flower shaped rock as a grave stone. I hope you find your piggies, if you don't perhaps you could have a little memorial service for them.
