This is Elizabeth, she will be 4 in just over a week

A few days ago she was diagnosed with dilated cardio myopathy which means her heart is enlarged. It was lucky that we found it when we did as she was not really showing many obvious symptoms of anything being wrong. She was x-rayed to check for bladder stones and we found this and thankfully no bladder stones. She had been having periods of heavy breathing since just before Christmas, which we had put down to stress or pain from bladder stone/infection but now we realise it was her heart.

She is currently on Baytril and Loxicom/Metacam for the bladder infection and Fortekor and Vetmedin for her heart. Last night at bedtime I went to make up her medicine and filled up the 1ml syringe with all the different meds and needed to start another one. She has been so good and takes her medicine, barley water and cranberry juice very well.

Ever since she was about 2 years old she had started to become calmer which I just assumed was her growing up and not being a crazy baby anymore. Over the last few days as the medicines have started to take effect I am seeing glimpses of the crazy baby she was starting to come back out again. I have about half and half, squeekers and lazy pigs that let their friends do the squeeking and Elizabeth has for a long time been one of the quiet ones. Last night when I was getting the pellets for them she heard the bag and ran up to me, she lifted her head really high and let out this really loud high pitched wheek, then another, I was so happy. Her breathing is more regular and she is more active and adventurous, I was struggling to get photos of her because she didn't want to stay still. It's horrible to think that she has wanted to do these things for so long and not felt able to.

She has just been checking out what I have been writing about her. Making sure I portray her in the best possible light.

What a gorgeous girl. So glad you have found out what has been wrong with her, and her meds are making her feel better. Go little Beth go, now you are feeling a bit better x

She sounds a very special little lady indeed. She is also very cute  She is lucky to have found such a wonderful caring owner to love her and care for her. Sending little Beth lots of recovery healing vibes, will keep an eye out for her on the forum

I love good news stories.
It’s wonderful to hear that the meds are having such a positive effect
She’s a beauty

Thanks everyone I think we have got the doses of the medicines sorted now. She is really looking better and eating loads.
