I'm very sad to let you all know that I lost my beautiful big girl Ethel this evening. She passed away at the vets just before I got there to pick her up from her operation today.

I cant begin to describe to you all how upset I am, but I know you will all understand.

At least her sister Dotty was with her when she died. I got to give her a goodbye cuddle and John, the vet, is going to sort out her cremation for me.

Just worried about Dotty now - she seems to know that she is gone and the pen looks so empty without her big sister.

Thanks for your messages.

Dotty was very sweet in the last week with Ethel. They havent always got on and Ethel would often pick on Dotty, but Dotty spent the last few days sitting with Ethel, keeping her company in her box grooming her. I think they knew that they didnt have long left together and were saying their goodbyes.
 
Thank you all for your lovely messages. Still cant believe that she's gone and I wont hear her chortelling away to herself any more. The kitchen wont seem the same without her. I'd go through all the highs, lows, the worries and agonies again that we had with her a thousand times over. She was so worth it. I loved her to bits.

Thanks guys. I'm sure that Ethel is up there now making her little list to Santa and asking him to find a little friend or two for her sister Dotty so she wont be lonely, and hanging up her stocking. I just wish that I could smell her one last time - she always smelt so lovely of hay and yummy things. I also miss the way that she used to chat to herself when she was pottering about.
