I came downstairs this morning to find Tom my beautiful guinea on his side breathing heavily. I rang the vets immediately who said to take him in. The vet was examining him when he had what looked like a massive seizure and just twitched and stopped breathing. The vet said it was a heart attack and thinks he had one in the night also. I am distraught.

I lost my tabby girl Lucy only last week. This is just unbearable. Just wanted to let you all know. Tom was 2 and lived with Daisy - he was my gorgeous silver agouti in the picture in my avatar and also posted on Photographs. Graham (Sokel) met him. Feel dreadful. Daisy seems ok but do guineas grieve for their mate? Will keep an eye on her.

I just can't believe I have lost 2 of my beloved pets in 2 weeks.

Helen. :'(

Pigs can feel a loss, just keep an eye on her and give her lots of cuddles.

Thinking of you,

So sorry Helen, Daisy may get a bit lonely but think about that later. I hope things start to look up for you. RIP Tom xxxxx

Just a quick thank you for your kind words and thoughts and to those who will post after this one of mine. I am signing off - going to busy myself for a while. So so upset he was only 2. I am not being rude just need to do housework or something. Just can't believe I lost Lucy Lou my cat and now my gorgeous Tom.

Helen.

I think it's best to busy yourself Helen. I know how you feel, when we lost Cuzzy I kept saying he was only 5 months and it was hard to accept it. Still you did all for Tom, please don't beat yourself up.

I am so very sorry to hear of your sad loss. It can be far worse when it is so unexpected.

I have lost two guineas recently, and both of their partners have successfully found new partners - both missed their mates and it has cheered them up no end to have company again.

Sending Condolences at this sad time.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words and thoughts. It really does help. I am getting a new companion for Daisy as she really is fretting and I am worried about her. Was going to wait a while but need to get her a friend. Having one of Graham's or Karen's depending on who Daisy chooses.

Helen.
