After a sad few weeks since I lost my guinea pig Spaghetti following a retrobulbar abscess & eye removal, I am totally in love with my new baby guinea pig I got on Sunday.

He’s so tiny & adorable and feels like a little baby bird! Seems to be settling in well & tucking into his food. I’ve decided to take a picture of him each week so I can look back at how he’s grown! Has anyone else done anything similar with theirs? Here he is last night :love:4EA7C7F0-7E57-4885-8CFA-39B6A1D03A7C.webp

Aw he’s adorable! So sorry for your loss, it’s really hard isn’t it? :(

Are you bonding him with another piggy? :)

I'm so sorry you lost your piggy. Your new little one is very sweet! Does he have a friend?

Thanks, I’m already besotted with him - can’t stop popping my head around the door & peaking at him!

Yes losing Spaghetti was really hard, particularly as I’d spent so much time & money trying to make him better. He seemed to be recovering well too so when he passed away suddenly in my arms it came as a shock.

Meatball, his brother, seems to have taken him passing quite hard. He has just been sitting in the cage for the last few weeks usually in the same spot, not really doing anything. So the new baby, Milkyway, is now already living with him in a new cage which seems to have perked him up. So far both are getting on very well, Meatball likes grooming & washing Milkyway. I just hope it all stays ok as he goes through puberty!

He is so cute.
I’m glad you found a companion for Meatball after all you and he went through with losing Spaghetti.
Looking forward to the weekly pics

That’s so lovely to hear, I’m so glad they’re getting on well! You’ve got some lucky boys right there, they’re well looked after and loved :)

It’s so hard when you do your best to make them better but at least you did everything you could for your lovely Spaghetti and Meatball is now perking up with his baby “brother” :)

Thanks, so far they’re getting on great so I really hope it stays that way. I forgot how tiny they are at that age so wanted to do something to track how he grows over the coming weeks & months.

Also forgot how squeaky & lively they are at that age too, tried to take a nice photo of them both but Milkyway moved so is just a brown furry blob! 6D7EB083-FA58-46B5-8CE8-1B3C67B35DFB.webp

Anyone know when guinea pigs reach full grown? Now I’ve started with the weekly photographs I don’t ever feel like I can stop haha :xd:

Can't believe how much he's grown.
Has he applied to join the Floof Club?
Keep those photos coming - don't stop
Haha thanks everyone! Awww I’ve just seen the posts about the Floof Club, Milkyway would love it if he could be a member of that

Wow sounds like he’ll still be growing for a while then, think my phone will just be totally full of the weekly photos! Although it is interesting to look back & see how the shape of his face etc has already changed, his face is also turning a darker brown whereas it was all the same colour when I got him. Just hard sometimes remembering to take the photos every Monday night after a long day at work, but definitely worth it!

I can’t believe this day is here already but Milkyway is 1 year old!

The birthday boy has had a fur cut as it was getting a bit out of control. Without it all he now kind of looks smaller than he did at 3 months :hmm:he weighs 850g so I hope that’s ok.

Luckily he still gets on brilliantly with big brother Meatball & they’ll be celebrating with some parsley tonight

What a cute little chap you have there. Dennis is my tiny boar it took him a long time to get up to 1000gbut he didn't stay there very long and at last weigh in he was 960g.

Thank you  I think he was 3/4 fur before, this was his last picture so he’s shrunk considerably after the cut! Meatball is 1.25kg so I’m never too sure what’s average for a boar.

Thanks everyone! Still can’t believe how smaller he actually looks in the 1yr photo compared to the 11 months one, it must have all been fur!

I have enjoyed capturing his weekly & monthly photos although I wasn’t very impressed yesterday when I realised my letter pack was missing an R! So had to improvise & make one to spell out year haha

Well Milkyway celebrated his 2nd birthday yesterday! Doesn’t seem 5 minutes since I posted his 6 weeks old picture at the start of this thread. Thankfully his big brother Meatball is still doing well at the moment, he’ll be 5 in a few months🤞
Working from home has meant I spend a lot more time observing them, who would have guessed that shy, placid Meatball actually gave Milkyway a good shove when he was trying to do some strange vibrating cleaning manoeuvre as Meatball was trying to sleep 🙈
