Goth Mummy
Adult Guinea Pig
So.... since my last dear piggie Evangeline died I have been waiting till the right pigs came along.
I found out that a friend of someone else at the stables where I keep my horse was looking for good homes for 3 baby boars. She had rescued two pregnant sows from unpleasant conditions and had decided to rehome the boars. I was intending to get girls again but I went to look at the boys anyway, and they stole my heart , also I know that boars can be harder to rehome.
And yes, I am aware that a trio of boys can be hard to keep, and I am prepared that I may have to split them up if necessary but I am hoping that it works out, i have had a pair of boys from the same litter before and that worked fine but I have never had a trio. I was a bit nervous because Pumpkin and Boo are from one mummy and Jack (the tri-coloured) is from the other mummy pig, but apparently they have been together since they were 4 weeks and are very bonded. We shall see. They are now 10 weeks old. I have a spare Ferplast 120 in case i need to quickly separate....
They are still very nervous:
left to right, Pumpkin, Boo and Jack.
Pumpkin and Boo hiding
Jack is the bravest!
And he seems to enjoy "lap time"
Fingers crossed it all works out, but I have already spoken to the vet about neutering them to potentially live with rescue sows if they fall out. For now they have 3 houses, 3 food bowls etc and I'm trying to give them as much space as possible to minimise squabbling - so far they seem very fond of each other but I guess they have not hit adolescence yet.
