Finally its completed - i have perfected their double penthouse ;) Just so you know the story : i have these by me in the shop ( i work from home ) so they are not alone all day - i work 6 days a week till 7pm so they wont get much attention anywhere else bless them.... also its not safe anywhere else here not just because its too flippin cold in this old farmhouse but we also have two jack russells - the working typoe - and they cavies wouldnt last two minutes .. anyway - i bought two of the largest cages i could and connected them with some air filtration piping - its ideal as its a soft but very hard wearing plastic with metal rings to help the grip . its non slip and very difficult to bite / teat etc so wont be eaten...They have toys and hidey hole upstairs and boy they are WHIZZING up and down - they love it! :D I'm so pleased.... Also they have a run they come out into every day in the shop for several hours with a big log in which they adore climbing on and chewing :D - we are building an outdoor run asap but at the mo its frozen and snowing BBRrrrrr ....then they will have a 10meter square run with branches - stones and logs to play in and under. I couldnt get the clip togther cages but i love these for ease of cleaning and compared to the last cage these piggies had this is HUGE so although i could build them something much bigger in another room for my lifestyle this was the ebst i could do - hope you like it as much as they do :D

They love this furry hat to climb into and watch the world go by :D

Rocca saying hello - its right by my cashpoint and computer so i can chat to them all day - its great :D

Thats brilliant, and very creative, well done :)

Is the tube stiff enough that it doesn't bounce and swing around when they travel through it?

YEp - it doesnt budge - its wierd material - very soft to touch but its rigid. Its attatched the the cage sides with ties so its secure - the piggies had to be persuaded the first time but now they are literally racing up and down - i wish i could post a video its hysterical :D

You will have to get some video and put it on youtube or clipshack and then post the link here so we can see them :)

Kat

That's great, they look really happy, well done :)

ohh great idea - i iwll try and set up a video :) I have done no work today - I'm just sitting watching them play! now though they are so knackered they are sleeping - blessssssss...

That is brilliant :) I see you haven't got the plastic base on the upper cage, what have you used for a base and how do you get the tubing through the top of the bottom cage? is it through the door at the top that you can open up?

Video would be brilliant i bet they do look hilarious :)

What a nifty set up great that you can be beside them all day, i'd love that :)

Thanks everyone ! I'm delighted and so are the piggys in fact they are skipping around and popcorning almost nonstock - its amazing!

Heres how i made it - I got two 1metre 20cm long rabbit hutches - each with a large opening plastic lid on top - i removed these lids - then i took the base off one - flipped the cage upside down and placed it ontop of the other cage. Using a piece of plastic sheeting that they make signs out of ( v expensivebut i got it free !) i placed this INSIDE the upside down cage - this covers the hole left after removing the lid. Then i cut a hole in the same size as the piping....the pipe was then clipped to the side of the cage using wire - slipped through the hole making a perfect ladder - the piping was flippin expensive - 2 metres cost 37€ about 30 pounds but its perfect.

the top of the whole thing has a frame made from some oak we had left over - its to stop the piggies should they decide to try and climb out. Alos - the top cage that was flipped over - i unhooked the smaller gate on the side - flipped it over and re clipped it on so now it opens 'as normal'.

Now having said i made this - actually my handman from the shop made it - bless him! THANKYOOOUUUUUUUU JACOB x heheee

If anyone needs more info i can take pics
