I got my guineas today! Two absolutely gorgeous fluffy little girls that were popcorning away in their enclosure when I went to see them!

Elsa is the white (for obvious reasons! :P) and Crunchie the multicoloured! Its not a great picture as they were quite nervy after the journey - although when I put them in their new cage Elsa started popcorning and racing around! She kept dashing back to Crunchie who was hiding in the house like 'come out come play with meeee!'

Will post more pictures once they get a bit braver !

One question.. Elsa is already having a nibble at the fleece bedding.. I'm assuming this won't hurt her as fleece is often used as bedding?! They have hay and pellets to nibble on, and I'm about to go give them their first veggies! 12196096_10153943453123646_2996043039617594631_n.webp

Congratulations on your beautiful piggies. Not heard of piggies swallowing bits of fleece but if it was very tiny bits guess it would pass through, if they swallowed chunks it could cause a blockage so you might have to change bedding type in that case but fleece is pretty strong stuff so I wouldn't have thought they could do more than make tiny holes in it. My boars gave me a very worrying time when they were younger, one if not both ate chunks of puppy pad. I kept an eye on them and the poops kept coming, I always make sure the pads are well buried under a layer of heavy newspaper then vetbed fleece now. Hope someone with more fleece experience comes along soon.

They're stunning!

In regards to the fleece, is your fleece very flat and sort of seems like you couldn't pick much at it? Or is it a bit bobbly and thick? If the fleece 'eating' continues it may be time to think about changing bedding, unfortunately :( eating fleece can cause blockages so I would keep an eye to see whether the fleece is actually being eaten in chunks :)

It's quite flat, its 100% polyester and I washed it many many times first! The fleece eating seems to have stopped now... I watched them for a good hour and a half tonight (lost track of time!) and she only had one tiny nibble them decided broccoli was much more interesting! Plus the bed area was absolutely full of poops today from last night - I forgot how much poop comes out of such a small animal! :P

Haha that's good, just keep an eye on it XD

Congratulations on Crunchie and Elsa, they are beautiful. Really hoping to see lots more of them over the forthcoming weeks.

Update on my girlies!

Elsa is much more confident than Crunchie.. both will sit out in the cage happily munching on their hay and even the odd bit of popcorning, but the slightest movement and Crunchie darts back into the house! Elsa is a bit braver and usually stays unless I move very suddenly.

Have managed to get them both eating from my lap! Again Elsa more than Crunchie.. tonight she sat happily and ate a whole cauliflower leaf (a small one!) whereas Crunchie ate a little bit of leaf and a few bites of broccoli then decided it was just too scary! Crunchie is so fast as well! When we first tried to catch her she discovered she could burrow under the fleece, so I've now tucked the fleece under the top part of the cage all around, and ordered her a snuggle sack where she can burrow!

I figure the more I get them out the more they'll get used to being handled. Our last guineas were ridiculously tame (as you can tell from my avatar pic!) but its been so long I have no idea how we did it! :P

And heres a few pictures of my girlies... <3
