My New Hutches

My dad started working on my new hutches for the winter today whilst I was out. The first one has a ramp with a hatch in it because I have four girls so I divided it into two floors. It is four storeys high and 4 x 2.
Also going to have insulated sloping roof, cage fronts and everything else put in tomorrow. Also having a felted canopy thing over it so I dont get wet when I'm cleaning them lol. I'll put the finished pics up then. xx>>>xx>>>

lmao. I asked if he minded doing it, and he said no he really enjoys it. Hes been really accurate with it and so far its taken him 8 hours to do.
 
wow thats absolutly fantastic, he should make them for a living for a triple hutch on ebay is £100+ at the mo and yours is much better imo
 
that is the perfect hutch! it's soo big! i reckon you'd be able to even fit in another piggie! x

Thanks everyone. He made the fronts yesterday, but didn't get time to finish it cos he was driving me around the countryside lol. Will put the pics up with the fronts in a bit. :):)
 
Your dad has made a fantastic job of that - he's very talented.:) Can't wait to see the pictures when it's finished.:)

Haven't made the fronts that big so when it rains the wood will swell and it will still be easier to get them on a off.
Just getting insulation for the roof then finish it off. :)):))
 
Got lots of stain yesterday and we are putting the first lot on tonight, will take pics later.
 
In the double one at the top there will be my four girls, then below will be Rocky and Toffee then at the bottom Winnie and Bumble. There is still another one to be made which will have Nellie and Austin in one if I can bond them and Delilah in another, then hopefully I can get her a friend. :)

I had stained some of it last night, but I ran out of it. Dad came to the rescue lol and is bringing more home tonight.
Need to do the inside, one of the sides and all the frames.
Roof insulation, felt, bedrooms, and bedroom doors still need to be put on. My Dad is getting really into it and wants to make more lol

Took about three days in total to do and has had three coats of Pet friendly stain. If anyones wondering what the roof is about, we extended it out 3ft to keep the sun and rain off them.

What a lovely dad you have ... love him! :)

My hubby also enjoys making hutches ... he has made me three 5ft x 2ft hutches in recent weeks.

PS. The extended roof is a great idea!
 
gosh that is a great hutch, your dad has done a very good job....
