I've finally extended my C&C cage! When I bought my grids second hand I bought more than enough to build a decent size floor-cage, but due to our house having underfloor heating and a curtain instead of a door to the kitchen, I had to build it with storage, meaning it was a mere 2x3.

I was so excited when Wayfair had a sale (thanks for the heads up by the way guys) and bought a single pack of grids. I've now managed to extend the cage to a 2x4. I know it's not much bigger, but as well all know it is the minimum recommended size for two piggies and my boyfriend won't allow me to build it any bigger.

So I built it up. We now have a kitchen too! The girls LOVE doing zoomies up and down the ramp and also chutt like mad whenever they do xx>>> The only issue I'm having is finding something to lay on the ramp so they can get up and down it with no problem. At the moment I have used their towel and have pulled it through the grids in an attempt to stop it from slipping down. Unfortunately though I have had to rearrange it several times a day and often come down in the morning with it on the floor on the cage so it is not ideal..

Oh. Also it is a pain to clean or get the pigs out now because the ramp is in the way and it makes it difficult to reach around. But OTHER THAN THAT. I kind of like it and I think the girls do too :)

matalan do 2 for under a fiver and b&m have 200x150 for 4 quid. You could attach a fleece with small bulldaog clips on side (wilkinsons) or change to a cat scratchin board secured with cable ties The extra 1x2 makes a hell of a diference in space. Is the upper floor covered

Could you move the ramp again the back wall & take the end piece which has the 2 red caps & move that to where you originally had the ramp. You wouldn't have to reach round the ramp then.

When Junior had problems with the old ramp in his wooden hutch, we cut the leg off an old pair of canvas style trousers and used that :) worked a treat for getting more traction :)

If you have a Range near you they sell carpet tiles for £2.75 which are perfect for the ramp.

I was considering using a cat scratch post in the first place, but we don't have any tools to make holes for the cable ties here. Would probably have to go to the boyfriends' parents which is a half hour drive and I don't think I'd be able to face the rolling eyes and sighing when I mention it's for the pigs :)) I don't get what you mean when you ask if the floor is covered?

This was the original plan, but they way I cut the correx (I scored it so it was all one piece) it left a gap right where I've now had to put the ramp. If I move the ramp against the wall I will have to cut out another hole and also patch up the hole they use at the moment. The correx for the kitchen is already in bits and pieces because it's from the original cage where everything had to be sellotaped together because we scored a few the wrong way and had to cut them off and blah blah.. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Do you guys think it would be okay just to leave that gap and put a grid there so the pigs can't get out, then cut a new hole against the wall?

Also with the trouser leg and carpet tile suggestions - how would I attach?

Many thanks for all the help guys! x

I use carpet tiles on my ramp (or just buy a really cheap doormat for a few quid and cut to size). I just pierced holes in each corner of the tile and cable tied it to the bent grid.

Was thinking of doing just that, but wasn't sure it would work. But if someone else is already doing it.. :D thank you. I'll give it a shot!
