They have been out in the run with a wire panel between them today.
Any tips on bonding? Do people like the "sofa" method, the bath method or gradual introductions after "side-by-side" time? Or any other ways people have found successful?
I'm also interested to know if with guineas pigs its important to keep them together once the bonding has started, as it is wth rabbits, or if it works just as well to have "dates" taking place over a period of days?
Also, is that how texel's usually look?!

Hiya

I am quite new to piggies so I am not sure about some of your questions although I am sure someone will be along to help soon.. but I just wanted to say your piggies are really gorgeous! :smitten: :smitten:

gorgeous piggies :0
ok this is how I got my two boars bonded

I had them in seperate hutches and first of all the get to sniff each other in passing (Bob was going to his hutch while I was taking John out)
Then we had one sitting on our lap, put away and then the other gets to come and smell where the other piggie was sitting.

Then we had them in seperate pens indoors where they could see each other but not touch. Did this for a good few days.

Then joined both playpens up together and let them get to know each other. Was pretty intense when they first got together and John still wanted the whole world to know he was boss a couple of days later but I'd say by the end of the week, he'd stopped rumbling and all is well.
This was done over a period of a week I'd say.
Wouldn't say this was the surefire way to do it, I'm sure some people wouldn't necessrily agreed but it worked for us :)
