Patches came into my live four years ago, and taught me so much about guineas.
He taught me that although they're skittish, if you put the time and the effort in you get a wonderful, cheeky friendly companion. He taught me that veggies are super important, but so is just sitting talking away.
In the time that he was with me, he taught other pigs to be friendly. He taught countless skittish baby boy pigs that the green thing being dangled from the end of the scary giant's fingers is actually super tasty and that the scary giant isn't really that scary.
He was an old man, and after his horrible dental surgey, he developed an abcess inside his throat, which burst. While I could've put him through surgery, I felt it was just too much to ask of the old tired man.
I want to thank Teadragon for being there for him when I couldn't - sadly I am away in Beijing at the moment, but she's the one who ultimatly is being there with him at his end, and nursed him through these last couple of days.
Patches and his best cage mate Squeeky were holidaying with Teadragon, and Patches even managed to work his gentle piggy charm on her three boys - who actually told Squeeky off when he tried to "dominate" his submissive pal.
Patches - I tried not to have a favourite, but you were most definatlty it. My life won't be the same without you, thank you for being my piggie.
Even with your weird little malformed claw that baffled every vet and guinea person that saw it.
