It's not the best of timing but both my oldies have been showing there age and slowing down.

I noticed both have lost a huge amount of weight which is not good news. Fred has dropped below 800grams and Wilma is 640 grams she always been tiny but not quite this tiny. Both are coming up on their 7 year gotcha day, however I suspect both where between 1-2 when adopted so a good age.

I currently have Fred on Zithromax as we believe his tooth socket is infected again, and Metacam.

Wilma is struggling with Bloat, so she is being syringe fed although she is still eating on her own. Well we work out if there is something else going on. I'm cautious about what we do going forward she's such a delicate little soul.

I'm sorry to hear you have poorly piggies,I'm getting to be an old fogie! but i like the more confidence that comes with age,not worrying about what other think..also I'm still upto learrning and doing new things!old age for all speices can have some benefits.your two older cavies will be experiencing a loving owner and that is very precious! Hope you are able to find a reason for there ill health and have some lovely times together.:hug:s to you.

Big hugs to you - I thought my oldies of 6 + were old - it's so hard to see them slow down and almost shrink to baby piggies again ;(

Thanks guys, I'm just so glad Fred is tolerating the Zithromax and he has put on some weight. Wilma is also maintaining her very low weight. She's also on Cisapride and doing well.

I'll be catching up with the vet this week it's so hard to know what's illness and what's age related.
