To put it simply, my father is a business man. He won't do anything unless it turns a profit for him. He said I could get a puppy, but that I would be paying for it, which is fine, except I don't have any money.. and since I work for him, the money comes from him and he hasn't paid me recently T.T I want a friend...

I don't understand...

... do you want a pig yet your father wants you to get a puppy or can you not decide between a puppy or a piggie? Keep in mind that piggies do best in multiples.

I get 10 pound a week to look after 6pigs 1 hammy 1 bunny and if theres anything left I get it:)):)) hope you get your piggy!parent pester power comes into control when piggys are needed :))

Pretty much the only animal my father seems to tolerate are dogs. He is allergic to cats and hates mice, and rats and such. I'm not entirely sure what his aversion to guinea pigs is but he pretty much just flat out said no when I suggested getting a piggy.

Trying to persuade my father is like getting a rock to walk on its own... If he says no he won't change his mind.. Hes not the easiest person to impress. I'll have to figure it out myself somehow

nag nag and nag some more show him cute pics of pigs and talk non stop about piggies that might help;) my mum was easy to persuade so I don't have many ideas :( sadly

The trouble is, if you are a minor (under 16 ) your parents must be the ones responsible for any animals you get. That means it is up to them to take the animal to the vet if necessary, and to ensure the animal gets the care it requires every day (even if it is you giving the animal all the care it needs). Without your parents support, unfortunately you may be better off researching for now and waiting until you are able to support any animals yourself.

I know it is not what you want to hear, but I don't want you to get into a situation where you need to do something for your animal, but your parents won't help you out. It happens too often!

Edited to add: Just checked your profile and seen you're not a minor. Even so, if you rely on your parents, that means any animals you get rely on your parents also. Without their support, you are still going to end up in the same position. :(

I know.. I'll be moving out soon, in maybe a year or so.. I will probably have to wait until then. At least then I will be in a stable household that doesn't have many loud arguments >.<
