My pig seems to have very bad gas!

I have mentioned the fact that my pig, Copernicus, was making a strange noise before this, and I was concerned that something serious might be wrong after all when I read that it could be a URI. So, I did take him to the vet and she gave him a checkover and said he was fine. She squeezed him; examined inside his mouth; his teeth, and his belly and he given a clean bill of health.

However, he is still making the noise and now he keeps farting as well. We have stopped the cabbage and spinach but to no avail. Could this be a case of the heaving hiccups? He seems to want to "burp" but just lifts his bum up and tries to poo instead. That's when we hear the noise. Please can someone help? He's eating and running around, up to his usual shinannigans. He's even started making friends with our latest addition, Monty, from the other side of the fence. His fur is in really good condition and he can't wait for his hay and veg in the morning. Everything else seems fine...
 
What else are you feeding him? Grass can cause some pigs to be gassy, and some foods normally deemed very safe and healthy for pigs can lead to gas problems with some susceptible individuals.

Is his belly distended or tight at all, or is it soft, squishy and very palpable?

Good job on stopping the cabbage and spinach. Cabbage is a very gassy veg and can cause many problems for pigs prone to any gas troubles. Spinach is very high in calcium and oxalates so should be limited with all pigs.
 
The vet checked his stomach and it was fine. He made a little bit of noise but it wasn't a squeaking noise; more like a "please don't squeeze me" noise. She didn't notice anything unusual. I'm getting worried though because he can sometimes chew the wood and plastic tray around his pen - could he have swallowed something?
